New report shows New York State has highest union density

The Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies, the Center for Urban Research, and the New York City Labor Market Information Service jointly released a new study of union density on Labor Day 2010.

The report, "The State of the Unions: A Profile of 2009-2010 Unionization in New York City, New York State, and the U.S.A." analyzes the composition of the unionized workforce in New York and compares it with the rest of the nation.

The study also analyzes the demographics of union membership and its distribution across industries and economic sectors in detail. A copy of the report is available here.
